Ambulance Operations Positions
EMT's and Paramedics respond to both emergency and non-emergency
requests for assistance. This may include assisting various fire
departments, clinics, hospitals, patient care facilities, and home
residence responses.
Gerber Ambulance Service subscribes to the System Status Management
method of dispatching resources. Our BLS and ALS ambulances are
posted throughout the response area and are dispatched based on
the location of the request and level of service required.
This means that EMT's and Paramedics will be required sit for prolonged
periods of time waiting for responses. This position is marked by
periods of inactivity interrupted by periods of extreme physical
and mental exertion on the scene of an emergency and/or patient
care transport.
Duties and Responsibilities
Station and Vehicle Maintenance.
Patient Assessment and Implementation of Appropriate Care.
Documentation including Patient Care, Supply, Billing Reports,
Journals and Incident Reports.
Public Relations and Educational Details.
Safe Operation of the ambulance in both emergency and non-emergency
situations.

Shifts and Scheduling
EMT's and Paramedics will be assigned to either 10 or 12 hour shifts.
Shift assignments vary to include weekends, nights, and holidays.
All personnel are subject to mandatory recall in the event of disaster,
MCI, or other incident that taxes available resources.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-
Requirements
· California Emergency Medical Technician-1 Basic Certificate
· Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers Card (AHA
or ARC)
· California Drivers License
· California Medical Examiners Certificate*
· California Ambulance Drivers Certificate*
· LA City Ambulance Drivers Permit Required for Personnel assigned
to LA Operations Division

Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic-
Requirements
· State of California Paramedic Licensure
· BCLS for Healthcare Providers
· Los Angeles County Paramedic Accreditation
· California Medical Examiners Certificate
· California Ambulance Drivers Certificate
· LA City Ambulance Drivers Permit Required for Personnel assigned
to LA Operations Division
· ACLS & PALS Certification

Critical Care Transport Nurse (CCTN)-
CCTN's work in conjunction with two EMT's to provide critical care
interfacility transports. The majority of patients are on IV medications
delivered via infusion pumps, automatic ventilators, cardiac and
vital signs monitors.
CCTN's are placed on a rotating on-call schedule.
Requirements
· State of California Licensure
· Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers Card (AHA)
· ACLS & PALS Certification
· 24 Months experience in ER or CCU
· 96 Hours of beside patient care per year in the ER or CCU

Dispatcher
Position Description
Dispatchers are responsible for the receipt and
dispatch of all responses via radio, computer,
and telephone.
Requirements
· Prior experience preferred
· Basic Cardiac Life Support for Health Care Providers Card (
AHA or ARC) preferred
· EMT or Paramedic training preferred
· Ability to type 30+ WPM
· Ability to perform simultaneous tasks with consistency and quality
· Excellent customer service skills
